The article reveals the essence and content of the concept «extracurricular activities»; considers the basic forms of organization of extracurricular activities of students; states the potential of extracurricular activities in the formation of professional competence at future teachers. The paper also provides the experience of organizing extracurricular activities with second-year students of the faculty of Psychology and Pedagogics of 44.03.05 Pedagogical Education Training Program (with two educational program specializations «Primary Education, Native (Chuvash) Language and Literature».
