The article is devoted to the work of the Saami writer Sofia Yakimovich. For the first time it examines the reflection of folklore and traditions, the origins of the writer’s worldview. The works by Sofia Yakimovich are characterized by mythological and ideological folklorism. Yakimovich embod-ies the features of the mentality of the ancestors of the Saami. The oeuvre by S. Yakimovich reveals both some close relation with the Saami mythology and folklore and the influence of Russian spoken poetry writing.
