Abstracts:
The formation and development of national schools and the culture of the Chuvash people most fully reflected in the scientific heritage of an outstanding teacher and educator, I. Y. Yakovlev (1848–1930). The paper presents a brief historiographic review of Yakovlev study literature which includes quite a wide range of research works in various fields of science. It also reviews and analyzes the existing historical assessment of pedagogical works of I. Y. Yakovlev in the works of the Russian scientists, writers, statesmen and public figures of the second half of the 19th century to the present.
