Abstracts:
The article considers the need of developing the national rating of institutions of higher education which would include the category of quality of education while retaining all the advantages of the existing ratings. It analyzes the world ratings of institutions of higher education and concludes that they do not reflect the quality of knowledge obtained by students and are generally focused at research and scientific activities. The author has carried out the comprehensive monitoring of the existing Russian ratings of institutions of higher education and proposed the criteria for assessing the quality of education on the basis of which it would be efficient to draw up the national rating.
