Russian, Chuvash, phraseography, ideography, learner’s dictionary, Russian and Chuvash fixed similes, cross-cultural communication.

The article is devoted to the project of a learner’s dictionary of fixed similes in the Russian and Chuvash languages. It pays special attention to the rationale and educational and didactic necessity of creating such work in the conditions of Russian-Chuvash bilingualism and the description of the system of equivalence of phraseological material. A dictionary entry reflects not only the types of equivalents, analogues and non-equivalent units of the compared languages, but also (if necessary) contains a brief historical and cultural etymological reference that clarifies the ethnocultural background of the phraseological unit, or the interpretation of unclear words (dialectic, archaic, rarely used, etc.).
