Abstracts:
The article reveals the history of formation and development of preschool education in the Chuvash Republic (16th – beginning of 20th centuries) in the context of socio-economic, political and ethno-cultural factors. It characterizes ethno-cultural features of functioning of family-community educational forms (institution of public educators, children’s community, summer playgrounds, etc.), educational institutions for orphans (orphanages in monasteries, orphanages for the homeless) and peasant children from low-income families (summer rural day nurseries, etc.).
