Abstracts:
This article is devoted to the problem of forming sociocultural competence of pupils in teaching English. Studying of the native culture is considered as one of the important ways of solving this problem. The author believes that such authentic material as regional and English songs, video reports and foreign articles about one’s native land is an effective means of forming sociocultural competence of pupils. There are also given some practical recommendations for using this material in the process of teaching English.
