This article reveals the essence and content of ethnocultural education of village schoolchildren at the current state of socio-cultural development in Russia; describes the goals of ethnocultural education and criteria for assessment of ethnocultural education of village schoolchildren, because village traditional culture (characterized by a vast socio-cultural potential) affects particularly this category of schoolchildren.
