STRESS LEVEL AND DYNAMICS OF THE BEHAVIOR OF SOME FELINES IN CAPTIVITY
We present new data of the studies of the effect of olfactory environment enrichment on behavior and level of stress at Siberian tigers (Panthera tigris altaica) and Amur leopards (Panthera pardus orientalis) in captivity. The indicators under investigation were dynamics of the main forms of activity of animals (including pathological), and derivatives of cortisol levels (determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) in fecal. The investigations were carried out in the Breeding Centre of rare and endangered species of animals and in the biochemistry laboratory research department of the Moscow Zoo.
