Abstracts:
The article presents some touches on the portrait of the Chuvash people in the Russian journalism of the nineteenth century, for that the author has analyzed the works of famous Russian authors of that time. Those are the works by A. N. Radishchev, A. A. Fuks, V. Sboev, M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, N. S. Leskov, N. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky, V. I. Dahl, N. D. Teleshov. In the works of these publicists there have been captured daily life, religion, culture, philosophy and also a particular character of relation of the Chuvash people with other peoples of the Volga and Transurals Regions.
