classification of switchings, coordination abilities, ability to switch, attack, defense, serve, serve return, set, playing in defense at the front and rear lines.

The paper presents an innovative classification of volleyball switchings systematized according to the following criteria: attacking and defensive play, techniques, playing with the ball and without the ball, playing in standard, non-standard, and predictable conditions. The author provides the results of the surveillance of competitive game activity of volleyball teams. These results show that the most common switchings are of the following types: «set – spotting for the attacking partner»; «readiness to hit – attacking hit»; «block – set»; «readiness to block – a hit with the rolling ball»; «readiness to block – reception of the rolling ball»; «block – self-spotting»; «readiness to receive the hit – set»; «the reception of the hit – spotting for the attacking partner».
