Abstracts:

This article presents the results of the survey among the parents of 327 students of the 2–5 forms in 2 schools in Cheboksary where Chuvash was taught there more intensively. The research has investigated whether the command of Chuvash or extra classes of Chuvash influence academic achievement. By means of logistic regressions the author proved that academic achievement mostly depends on the mother’s educational level, the number of books at home, the child’s health and gender. The author revealed that the command of Chuvash had positive effect and particularly on learning of English. The effect of extra classes of Chuvash cannot be determined by statistical significance.
