Abstracts:
The article is devoted to the study of an important group of ethnographic lexis that is the Chuvash terms of food and drinks that makes up a significant part in the Chuvash language vocabu-lary. It includes the names of various dishes, ingredients, food products, as well as the customs and rituals associated with the collective eating culture, time of holding various festivals and ceremonies, etc. In this article the basic grammatical methods of formation of the names of food and drinks in the Chuvash language. There have been revealed the most productive ones. The author analyzed literary and dialectal lexical units fixed in the dictionaries, as well as in the dialects of the Chuvash language.
