Abstracts:
The article deals with the problem of linguistic origin of local geographical term sunkok which is used by Mongol speaking population of Aginsk Buryat District of Transbaikal. The author marks that this term was not fixed in the Buryat-Mongol sources in terms of lexicography, and makes an attempt to determine its etymology basing on the previous research on toponymy of Eastern Transbaikal.
