Abstracts:
This article analyzes the lexical units concerning pre-funeral period of funeral and me-morial rites of the Chuvash in ethno-linguistic aspect. The author considers the terminology of one of the ritual and ceremonial units associated with digging graves. Studying actional and object codes of pre-funeral period allows you to reveal the terminology which was formed under the influence of Orthodox culture. It should be noted that in the names of ritual acts and realiae there have been preserved traditional natural (pagan) culture.
