Abstracts:
The present article considers irony as a stylistic device based on the interaction of logical and contextual lexical meanings, provides the linguo-stylistic analysis of the short stories by O. Henry, the outstanding American writer. Relying on the linguistic research works on realization of irony by lexical means and on their own analysis, the authors provide the means of explicatijn of irony at lexical level in English.
