Abstracts:The article discusses the problem of formation of ethnocultural competence of students of different nationalities of a modern university in a multicultural educational environment. The relevance of the study is due to the Strategy of the State National Policy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025 (as amended by the Decrees of the President of the Russian Federation dated 06.12.2018 No. 703), which specifies the goals of the state ethnic policy of the Russian Federation: “harmonization of interethnic relations; successful social and cultural adaptation of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation and their integration into Russian society” [10]. The article substantiates scientific approaches aimed at the formation of ethnocultural competence by students of different nationalities as the basis that provides each student with equal opportunities for personal and professional development, the choice of life priorities in the harmony of the ethnic and universal. The study was carried out at a university where students of different nationalities, including those from foreign countries, study, hence the importance of a multicultural educational environment as a necessary basis for harmonizing ethnic interpersonal relations. To achieve this, the most important conditions are the following: the implementation of culturological, ethnocultural and interpersonal approaches in the educational process, as well as the dialogue of cultures as a mechanism for the implementation of equal relations in the process of intercultural communication.
