RUSSIAN RESPONDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF FRENCH PHRASES WITH A TINGE OF SURPRISE AND REGRET
The paper examines the acoustic parameters of French emotionally colored statements and their perception by Russian speakers. In their entirety, acoustic parameters (melody, duration, intensity) contribute to the correct transmission of emotions and their perception. The relevance of the work is explained by the interest of modern linguistics in the implementation of linguistic units in the social and situational context of communication in the conditions of the new scientific paradigm. The purpose of the study is to identify specific prosodic features of French emotionally colored phrases and to study their perception by Russian speakers. The study was carried out using acoustic analysis of authentic sound recordings of speech with the involvement of experimental-phonetic methods: oscillographic, intonographic, histographic. The combination of the main components of intonation performs an important function in conveying the emotional connotation of surprise and regret. When perceiving a foreign-language utterance, respondents rely on the melodic features of their native language. Due to the universality of the intonation mechanism of emotionally colored phrases, the participants of the experiment correctly recognized emotional intonation constructions.
