Name of article:CATEGORIZATION OF THE WORLD OF MEDIA CULINARY RECIPE: THE ROLE AND FUNCTIONING OF PRECEDENT UNITS
Keywords:precedent unit, precedent phenomena, culinary recipe, culinary and gastronomic discourse, media axiology
Abstracts:The article discusses the specifics of functioning of precedent phenomena in the media culinary recipe. The relevance of the work is determined by its entry into the circle of studies related to media linguistics and discursology, and is also associated with the identification of certain aspects of the axiosphere of modern communication by the example of precedent. The material for the study is the precedent units extracted from the texts of the culinary recipes of A. Zimin and E. Chekalova from the pages of the magazine “Kommersant Weekend”. The main methods are the following: continuous sampling method used in the selection of language units; descriptive, semantic and contextual analysis method. It is revealed that precedent phenomena are most often used in the introductory or final parts of the recipe. It is noted that precedent units perform the function of a qualitative characteristic of an object directly related to the cooking process, as well reflect some qualities of a person, place as the source of origin of the recipe and/or time. Temporal descriptions contain not only descriptions of the current season, and consequently, the choice of dishes for cooking due to it, but also the author’s direct attitude to current cultural and political events. The study also concludes that precedent phenomena can both change their mode to the opposite, and retain the generally accepted axiological tonality.
