Abstracts:

The article deals with the preparation and holding of student scientific and practical conferences in a foreign language at the engineering faculty. Knowledge of foreign languages ​​is a part of professional training of a specialist and is a necessary skill for future engineers as it can help them in learning new technologies and scientific discoveries that may occur in other countries. The authors substantiate a number of pedagogical conditions necessary for successful holding of student scientific conferences. Topics of presentations at the conference should be related to the future professional activities of students, express their interests and motivate them to improve and deepen their knowledge in the chosen specialty. The role of the teacher in preparing students for participation in the conference is to help them choose an appropriate topic, advise on the structuring of the report, check its content in terms of accessibility for understanding by junior students, correct grammatical, lexical, phonetic errors in English, help to prepare the presentation if needed. The fulfillment of these conditions can aid in increasing students’ interest in
their future specialty, the formation and development of their language and speech skills in professional English. Examples of several reports are given, the content of which reflects independent research and developments completed by students.
