Abstracts:

Recent years clearly show that due to the unstable situation in the world, the influx of migrants is growing noticeably, which covers all spheres of public life, including education. In this regard, the issue of training students who are able to work in a multinational and multicultural environment, who have a sense of respect for other cultures, who can live in peace and harmony with people of different nationalities, becomes relevant now. This will be facilitated by introducing students to the basic ideas of ethnopedagogy, the pedagogical heritage of the nation and the formation of readiness to use it in professional activities. This problem is particularly relevant for students during the period of school practice, and teachers who work with children of different nationalities.

The purpose of the study was to justify the need to update the ethnopedagogical theory of G.N. Volkov for its effective application in the professional activity of a teacher.

To realize the purpose of the study, to determine the level of ethnopedagogical competence of teachers-to-be and the level of proficiency of already working teachers, a survey of school teachers and students was applied.

The analysis of the survey shows that in order for teachers-to-be to form ethnopedagogical competence and to further apply the knowledge obtained, it is necessary to actively use the ideas of folk pedagogy at training stage, and to develop a respectful and benevolent attitude towards representatives of different cultures in order to effectively apply them in their professional activity.
