Abstracts:

The article examines outdated and actively used today in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina phraseological units with a component of the thematic group “Clothes” of oriental origin. Due to the vastness of the material, the article analyzes the phraseme-forming potential and semantic and functional features of lexical units that name headwear or shoes. Historical events and language contacts contributed to the borrowing of orientalisms. The language of the Ottoman Turks is not only a source of lexical borrowings, but also an intermediary for the penetration of words of Arabic and Persian origin into the language of the Balkan peoples. These borrowings are interesting both in the linguistic aspect and in terms of history, ethnography, spiritual culture, since the word is often mastered together with the extraneous realities of everyday life. Wardrobe items are often associated with a personэs property status, social and religious status, or gender. With semantic adaptation in the recipient language, there may be an expansion or narrowing of the meaning of the word in comparison with the source language. The article provides possible culturological and historical-etymological comments on phraseological units, interprets the meaning of turns and components included in them. As an additional there was employed the method of structural and semantic modeling, which allows to identify the universality or national specificity of phraseology.
