Abstracts:

Based on the material of the Tatar written sources of the 17th-18th centuries, the article considers the functioning of language antonyms with the meaning “salamatlek” – “chir” (“health” – “disease”). The issue of antonymy attracts the attention of scientists at each new stage in the development of this science and requires some specific consideration. The relevance of our study is also due to the fact that the semantic-stylistic and functional features of paradigmatic relations including antonyms in the written sources of the 17th-18th centuries are not studied properly.

The author of the article studied the works on the problems of antonymy in the Tatar linguistics, considered the specificity of functioning of lexical units with the meaning “salamatlek” – “chir” (“health” – “disease”), which are in antonyms. The study showed that in the written monuments of the 17th-18th centuries lexical units with the meaning “salamatlek” – “chir” (“health” – “disease”) were formed not only from Turkic-Tatar words, but also with the help of Arab-Persian borrowings, many of which are not used today in the Tatar literary language.
