Abstracts:

The article analyses some theoretical perspectives of intertextuality. The subject of the research is the works on intertextuality published since the origin of the term in the works of M. M. Bakhtin and Yu. Kristeva to the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Those works reflect modern approaches to the phenomenon of intertextuality in philological research. The purpose of the study is to identify the main stages of development of intertexuality theory, to classify the main approaches to the phenomenon of intertextuality, and consider the relation between the concepts of intertextuality and postmodernism. As a result of the study, there have been identified “broad” and “narrow” approaches to the concept of intertextuality. It was clarified that intertextuality can be considered as the сentral concept of postmodern poetics and the basis of postmodern writing. It can also be studied in broad understanding as a philosophical paradigm of postmodernism and as stylistic device, writer’s intention to create intertextual links with works of predecessors and contemporary writers. The development of the theory of intertextuality at the present stage demonstrates that, although the concept of intertextuality cannot be limited to postmodern poetics alone, the study of specific manifestations of intertextuality in postmodern literature is a broad field for researchers.
