Abstracts:This article emphasizes the importance of using innovative forms of teaching in the modern educational process and their special significance in the organization of training in law schools. It analyzes the mechanism of conducting a training session on the discipline «History» in the game form of the court session «Lawsuit against Ivan the Terrible» is described in detail and its significance as a method of increasing the cognitive activity of students; lists the main goals, organizers, conditions of the business game, as well as the main stages and progress of the «court session»; describes the main structure of participants and describes in detail the functions and responsibilities of each «player» when preparing, organizing and holding an event. The paper also describes the general meaning of the business game and the main competencies, skills and abilities that it helps to identify and evaluate. This game allows students to form a comprehensive approach to the study and assessment of historical events, phenomena and figures, develops the ability to generalize, independent analysis of scientific (and other) information, communication skills, as well as motivation for educational activities and cognitive interest in the historical heritage of Russia.
