Abstracts:	Elementary cognitive features underlying language systems are identified by applying the operations of the binary radical tensor to the act of perception following the principles of psychomechanics outlined in Gustave Guillaume’s works. The resulting features called cognitive elements are hierarchically structured and comprise the following levels: occurrence, stasis/kinesis, indeterminate/determinate kinesis, punctual/repetitive occurrence, single/multiple quality, external/internal pivot. A transition can be made from each of the cognitive elements to launch another sequence of binary operations.
