Abstracts:

The article is devoted to the place of the nickname in filling of the concept of “Russian serviceman”. Currently, the cognitive method, widely used in linguistics, is reflected in military onomastics, which, due to the increasing interest in defenders of the Fatherland and the gradual opening of the boundaries of military society for the humanities, is becoming a promising direction for studying the linguistic personality of a Russian serviceman. The linguistic material was a card index of nicknames collected by the method of questioning and direct interviewing representatives of the military society. The structure of the model of the “Russian serviceman” concept is based on the motivating features of the existing concept “warrior” and supplemented by the author in the process of detailed correlation with the card index. As a result of the study, the main cognitive characteristics of nicknames were established, reflected in the perception of Russians representing serviceman. According to the quantitative characteristics of inclusion in the concept, they are arranged in descending order as follows: patriot, commander, stern, strong, indestructible, professional, smart, caring, fishing, militant, hero, quick, hunting, capable of performing a miracle, brave, fighter, victory, defender, positive, purposeful, devoted, cultured, squire. The material of the article can be used in linguistic special courses of civil and military universities.
