Name of article:ARABISM RAKIA IN SOUTH SLAVIC PHRASEOLOGY
Keywords:

phraseology, languages of the South Slavs, Arabism, rakia

Abstracts:

The article examines phraseological units with the Arabism rakia, denoting a strong traditional alcoholic drink that has become a national symbol and special feature of the countries of South Slavia, in order to identify the similar and the different in the phraseological picture of the world of neighboring peoples. The lexeme entered the languages of the Southern Slavs through the Turkish language of the Ottoman Empire period. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that South Slavic phraseological units and paroemias with the rakia component have not yet been analyzed comparatively. The described stable units are frequent in the everyday and artistic speech of the Slavic peoples of the Balkans. The methods of processing the material are component, comparative, continuous sampling from different sources, recordings of modern colloquial speech, including slang and jargon. The article provides cultural, historical and etymological comments on phraseological units and paroemias, as well as, if necessary, their components. Although rakia has become conceptually significant for all Slavic peoples in the Balkans, the examples considered show mainly the idioethnicity of phraseological units with this component, and the generic name of this national strong drink is used as part of the turns, and the names of the types of rakia have not become phraseological, despite their diversity.
