Abstracts:
The work examines phraseological units of the peoples of South Slavia with components – names of such parts of clothing and shoes as collar, sole and belt of Ottoman origin against the background of other languages. Vestigial vocabulary entered the host languages during the reign of the Glorious Porte and was so adapted by the Slavs of the Balkans that it is not perceived as alien. The purpose of the article is to show the potential of osmanisms denoting details of clothes and shoes among the Balkan Slavs as part of phraseological units. South Slavic phraseological units are taken from dictionary sources. Methods of material processing are component, comparative, structural, semantic and typological. Osmanisms denoting details of clothing demonstrate different degrees of phraseological activity, the noun collar has the lowest one. Most of the analyzed phraseological phrases have a pejorative connotative meaning. Phraseological units characterizing the financial situation and its change are stylistically neutral. Some phraseological units with a vestigial component naming a detail have variants with lexemes of non-oriental genesis. When borrowing from a lexeme, new meanings may appear that are not present in the source language and which have become the motivational base of slang phraseological turns. The analysis revealed both the internationality of motivational ideas of some structural and semantic models of phraseological units with vestigial details, and idioethnicity.
