Abstracts:

Currently, a significant number of swimming pools have been built in our country (the Russian Federation), both in sports and recreation complexes and in modern general education schools. Swimming is included in the physical education program for schoolchildren and is one of the compulsory subjects included in this program. The relevance of the problem under study lies in the fact that physical education teachers have requirements for the quality of swimming lessons, however, a small number of hours are allocated to these lessons and many teachers find it difficult to choose the means and methods of teaching swimming. The article presents one of the ways to solve this problem, using the example of an experimental method of teaching swimming to schoolchildren using the “Snake” exercises. Research materials and methods include a theoretical analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature, an analysis of the curriculum, programs for physical education of schoolchildren, an analysis and generalization of pedagogical experience. The results of the pedagogical experiment showed that the use of the “Snake” exercises allowed not only to improve the performance of swimming readiness of pupils, but also to form in them a conscious need and positive motivation for swimming lessons in the conditions of the modern educational system. Thus, in the article, the author comes to the conclusion that the experimental method of teaching swimming is the foundation for further education and improvement of technique in all ways of swimming in a secondary school.
