Abstracts:

The article highlights the results of a study of the personal readiness of future defectologists for inclusive practice. As a result of such readiness, a specialist demonstrates acceptance of the value guidelines of inclusion and is capable of constructive interactions with students, parents, and teaching communities in an inclusive environment. The study was conducted using a written survey of second-year students. The awareness of future defectologists of the idea and motives of inclusive education was estimated. Personal attitudes towards inclusion and the dissemination of inclusive practices were revealed. The respondents’ awareness of the main barrier to the development of inclusion in education was estimated. The authors also assess the readiness to accept healthy students and their peers with special needs as equals and to develop an inclusive culture among normally developing children. The results showed that most students declare a commitment to inclusive values, but are not sufficiently aware of the goals and motives of inclusion. The emotional and psychological barrier to inclusive practice manifests itself in the fact that future defectologists are not ready to bear personal responsibility for the development of inclusive processes. Upon graduation, most students see their mission in solving specific correctional problems. This requires consideration when preparing future defectologists for professional activities.
