ARCHETYPES “FATHER”, “MOTHER” IN THE EASTERN SLAVIC FOLK-SONG SUBSPACE
The study explores the role of folk songs subspace in shaping the cultural and ethnic identity, as well as the significance of folklore images in conveying cultural knowledge and traditions of specific communities. Focusing on Russian and Ukrainian folk songs, the research examines the activation of archetypal semes of kinship within the folk-poetic subspace of Eastern Slavs. Within the Eastern Slavic folklore poetics lexicon, the archetypes of father and mother represent fundamental ideals. The research is motivated by the growing interest in contemporary linguistic science towards the associative and figurative modeling of subspaces, particularly in the context of folk poetry. Employing the method of comprehensive sampling and descriptive analysis involving observation, comparison, generalization, and interpretation, the study examines the associative and figurative connections of “father” and “mother” nominations within folk-poetic syntagms, the text forming means supporting these connections are established. The findings highlight the stable associations and pronounced connotations (both positive and negative) attributed to the archetypal father and mother figures in Eastern Slavic folklore. Additionally, the study identifies the dominant themes that form the basis of intra-textual associative links of kinship nominations, underscoring the centrality of “father” and “mother” nominations as key text-forming components within the folk-song subspace. Ultimately, the study affirms the widespread utilization of these internal semes within the folk-poetic subspace.
