The article deals with the actual problem of the formation of civil identity of primary schoolchildren. The author, referring to research in the field of this problem and to the results of her own activities, gives a brief description of the essence of the formation of civil identity and its role in the general educational process of a secondary school. The formation of students’ civil identity presupposes the presence of three interrelated components: cognitive (knowledge of belonging to a certain social community); emotional and value-based (the ability to analyze the facts of public life, as well as to accept and respect the legal foundations of the state and society); activity-based (the ability to determine individual behavior in society and take an active part in the life of the country). By analyzing modern literature on the problem of the formation of the civic identity of students, the author identified and formulated the following pedagogical conditions: knowledge by teachers of the components of the concept of civil identity; taking into account the psychological and age characteristics of junior schoolchildren; the use of technologies of museum pedagogy in pedagogical activity; organization of extra-curricular activities for patriotic education. The article also presents the characteristics of the pedagogical conditions for the effective formation of the civil identity of primary school students. The author pays special attention to the technologies of museum pedagogy, which allow, through the assimilation of the culture of the native country and peoples living in close proximity, to form the basis of cultural communication, values and orientation of the individual. The article concludes that the younger school age is the most favorable for effective work on the formation and development of civil identity of students in compliance with the identified pedagogical conditions.
