Abstracts:
The article deals with the functions of the “bacchic” detail in the organization of the literary world of D. S. Merezhkovsky’s historiosophical novel “Christ and Antichrist”. The relevance of the study is due to the identification of the author’s idiosyncratic features in the representation of the situation of wine drinking, and also the determination of the role of the “bacchic” detail which is, on the one hand, in representing the color of the epoch and, on the other hand, in its binding hypostasis that unites the three parts of the novel (Death of Gods. Julian the Apostate; Resurrected Gods, or Leonardo da Vinci; Antichrist. Peter and Alexey). The novelty of the research is in the study of the novel not only from the point of view of historiography and structural-and-semiotic method characteristic of literary studies, but also in the framework of stylistic method, which allows to detect the features of the artistic picture of the world of D. S. Merezhkovsky, the value perspective of everyday details. The material for the study is contexts from the trilogy of D. S. Merezhkovsky, which include bacchic vocabulary. The main research methods are continuous sampling method (when extracting examples from D. S. Merezhkovsky’s novel “Christ and Antichrist”, which contain bacchic vocabulary), linguistic, contextual, and descriptive methods. The author describes such functions as reproduction in the reconstruction of spatial-and-temporal coordinates (reflection of the described historical epoch), description of psychological state, symbolic interpretation.
