FUNCTIONING OF THE RUSSIAN PARTICIPLES IN PUBLICISTIC TEXTS
The article presents the results of the comparative analysis of the use of participle forms in the information and analytical genres in the publicistic style of the Russian language. The research has been made using the news and analytical articles from electronic versions of Russian daily newspapers “Izvestia” and “Moskovskij Komsomolets” and news sites interfax.ru and rbc.ru. The attention is focused on determining the frequency of using different participle forms in the news and analytical texts, examining of adjectivization of participles in the given types of texts.
The analysis of information and analytical texts has shown that passive structures with short forms of participles are most frequently used in the news articles. Binominal passive structures dominate in the texts of both genres. Among substantivized participles, most frequently used forms are substantivized participles of neuter gender denoting abstract notions and animate substantivized participles meaning collective notions. Single participles in attributive function which precede a defined word tend to be adjectivized. Active present participles in a metaphorical and figurative meanings are adjectivized in analytical texts, while past passive participles with erased meanings are adjectivized in the news articles.
