TRAVELOGUE AS A MEANS OF DEVELOPING SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF WRITING AT ENGLISH LESSONS
Due to the growing popularity of professional and personal Internet communication realized in social networks, through e-mail, formation of skills and abilities of foreign-language writing is one of the tasks of modern education.
The authors, having analyzed various modern technologies of teaching English, suggest the use of travelogues at English lessons as a way of increasing the interest of pupils in mastering the skills of writing. The article considers the main features of travelogue and its use as an authentic text for establishing lexical and grammatical skills during the performance of written tasks.
The authors of the article reveal the basic theoretical and practical issues of teaching writing by means of travelogue: the contents of the notion «travelogue», description of writing as a type of speech activity, the classification of exercises for teaching writing in English.
The article also describes the practical results of the experimental work with pupils of the middle stage, during which a set of exercises formed by the authors for teaching writing by means of travelogue in text and video format was tested.
