Abstracts:

The article attempts to identify the national and cultural features of the semantics of the invective vocabulary of the Russian and Chuvash languages. The study of invective vocabulary is relevant since in modern realities the language is often used to implement verbal aggression, which requires scrupulous scientific study. The study was carried out on the material selected from lexicographic and folklore sources. The analysis of the language material is based on the provisions of the cognitive-discursive approach put forward by E. Kubryakova. The paper employs such methods as distributive analysis, cluster analysis, conceptual analysis, component analysis, and the comparative method. The study showed that the analysis of invective vocabulary in the cognitive aspect can be attributed to the effective ways of identifying the ethno-cultural specifics of the linguistic picture of the world. The study allowed us to identify four main groups of invective vocabulary through semantic series with expressed generalized meanings. The conclusion is that in the Russian and Chuvash languages, lexical and phraseological means with components-zoonyms are most actively used as expressively and stylistically colored invectives, while there are the units that are completely identical, partially similar, different and opposite from the point of view of semantic and figurative content. The possibility of expanding the boundaries of the study of the national-cultural specifics of the linguistic picture of the world through the cognitive study of invective vocabulary in a comparative aspect is postulated.
