The article examines in detail the life and works of K. Petrov, the famous Chuvash journalist, novelist writer, teacher, researcher of the pre-revolutionary Chuvash journalism, Candidate of Philology, Member of the USSR Union of Journalists, the USSR Union of Writers, Honored Worker of Culture of the Chuvash Republic, Laureate of S. Elger and N. Nikolsky Republican Journalistic Awards. The authors pay special attention to his journalistic work in various media of the Republic of Tatarstan, teaching at the faculties of Journalism of Kazan University and I. Ulyanov Chuvash State University, research activity on the first Chuvash newspaper «Khypar» and its first editor, Professor N. Nikolsky. The article gives a brief description of such of his works as «Genesis of Chuvash Journalism», «History of Chuvash Journalism», «Genres of Chuvash Journalism»; provides the history of the novel-chronicle «Taer» which is a significant contribution to the treasury of historical and documentary works of the Chuvash literature, and «Life and Death» (never published) on the Chuvash poet M. Sespel. The article contains the materials and memories (never released before) by K. Petrov. The paper also considers the novel «Blue Star» (both in Chuvash and Russian) about the renowned Chuvash astronaut A. Nikolaev. K. Petrov is the author of documentary books, textbooks on the history of national and regional journalism, researcher of the biography and creative heritage of the famous Chuvash public figure N. Nikolsky. The works of art created by K. Petrov are a great contribution to the modern Chuvash literature, and K. Petrov is a top-class writer.
