GOGOL’S TRADITION IN THE POETICS OF LEO TOLSTOY’S ARTISTIC PROSE
The article explores the peculiarities of Gogol’s poetics creatively mastered by L. Tolstoy. The aim of the article is to identify the Gogol origins in the poetics of Tolstoy’s artistic text. The study revealed Gogol’s significant ideological and artistic achievements which were further developed and originally used in the works of Tolstoy. Gogol’s principles of descriptive prose, the correspondence of the material details and the situation to the character, the concentration of homogeneous details, the irony in exposing negative phenomena of social life enriched Tolstoy’s poetics receiving a creative interpretation in his works.
