Abstracts:
The article considers the historical-ethnographical essay of the priest G. I. Lyapidovsky, which is dedicated to the history of kryashen villages. Basing on the witnessing of the old locals, G. I. Lyapidovsky describes how the toponyms of Mamadyshsky uyezd of the Kazan Governorate appeared. He gives the etymology of the toponyms and shows the reasons for the nomination of the places. The regional toponymic system as a part of the person’s space and time conception is reconstructed in the essay. The article represents the modern interpretation of the etymology of some discussed toponyms.
