WOOD SPIRIT IN RUSSIAN MYTHICAL NARRATIVES OF CHUVASHIA
The article analyzes the specific features of the image of the wood spirit in the Russian prose of Chuvashia, the comparative characteristic of the Russian and Chuvash wood spirits, consideres the most common narrative plots associated with these characters. The paper also deals with the mythical basis of the analyzed images and plots and their relation to the pagan and Christian beliefs of the people.
