The article is devoted to the problem of professional training of the future teacher-choirmaster at the university on the subjects of conducting and choir. The author considers the issues of expressive conducting based on creative knowledge of sign language, which implies the formation of knowledge and skills in students of the conductor-choir cycle, knowledge relevant to the choirmaster and conductor-choir skills. The paper also reveals the essential and informative characteristics of such professionally significant concepts as expressive conducting skills, conductor’s language, and manual conducting techniques, which together comprise the conductor-choirmaster’s professional competence.
